   Are you interested in working with others who share a passion for the horse industry in South Carolina? Be part of the SC equine community. help promote, protect and further our right to own and keep horses and other equines for business and recreation.   
   
​  Consider joining the SC Horsemen’s Council Board of Directors. The South Carolina Horsemen’s Council represents people who share a love for, interest in, or investment in horses and the horse industry. SCHC has united members to insure that their views are represented to state and federal agencies, the media and the public at large. The Board is composed of volunteer members. Directors get to know the SC equine community and elected officials by representing SCHC at local meetings & activities. Be a part of SCHC programs such as the Youth Scholarship, Stallions to Geldings Grants, Trail Mapping, Annual Expo, Clinics, Seminars, and Horse Welfare. Join in the fun of planning equine events. District Directors communicates and network with the equine community in their district. 
 
The Board of Directors  consists of 3 members from each of the 5 Districts and up to 8 At-large members.  Directors are elected by the general membership at the Annual Meeting and serve a 3 year term with a maximum of 2 terms. At term expiration, directors must leave for one year before being considered for nomination again.  Terms are staggered so that the Board will be a combination of new and experienced members. 

   Do you have leadership skills? Consider leading SCHC into the future! The President of SCHC is the heartbeat of our council! Under knowledgeable leadership the SCHC will continue it’s work to connect, communicate, and educate our members, our elected and government officials, and the general public about the horse community and the industry we support.  Please keep in mind being elected as SCHC President is a worthwhile commitment but very rewarding to SC equine community.  The SCHC President need to be available daily if the needs arises.

The Nominating Committee will place the following names (below) for the slate at the SCHC Annual Meeting 2021 at Lee State Park on Feb 20, 2021
 
The Nominating Committee recommends the list of Nominations for SCHC President and Directors. These nominations are for positions where terms have expired, a resignation has occurred or a space has been vacant.  Keep in mind that additional nominations may be made from the floor for these positions at the Annual Meeting by any current SCHC member. Anyone nominated from the floor must be present to accept a nomination, must be current SCHC member as of the record date and will need to provide personal information before the vote. These nominations cover elected offices only (President and Directors). Incumbents who are not required to be re-elected in 2021 are not on this list.
 
Appointed offices are addressed by the Board of Directors when needed.


Note: All Members and Nominees must be in good standing as of  January 27, 2021 to be eligible to vote or for the ballot.

2021 Nominating Process……

   Qualifications include being a member of The SCHC; being a legal resident of SC; residing in the District you wish to represent, and being willing to give up your personal time without compensation to support the Horsemen’s Council. SCHC conducts business via bi-monthly meetings, email and conference call.

   Nominations will be accepted until December 31.The Nominating Committee will present a slate of qualified candidates for District and At-Large Directors and for the President to the Board no later than January 15, 2020. This approved slate will be presented to the membership and available at the Annual Meeting.

​   Additional nominations may be made from the floor for these positions at the Annual Meeting by any current SCHC member. Anyone nominated from the floor should be present to accept a nomination, must be current SCHC members as of the record date (January 27, 2021) and will need to provide personal information before the vote.   

   Please look over the SCHC Bylaws  and Policies & Procedures see if you think the organization is a good match for you and your skills.  If you are interested in being placed in nomination, please submit a profile with  name or correspondence  to this email nominatingcommittee@schorsemenscouncil.org   It will be delivered to ALL committee members.
